The German Design Council in its capacity as an independent and internationally active institution awards the respected German Design Award every year. It thus honours pioneering products, projects and designers that represent a unique design. The Boomerang Chair from the Neutra Furniture Collection by VS is also one of the nominees for the German Design Award 2015.

The application phase for the German Design Award has been concluded. This award is given once a year by the renowned German Design Council. This independent and internationally active institution was established as a foundation in 1953 by a resolution of the German Bundestag. Since then it has represented German design events and supports German companies in communicating their design expertise. The aim: to raise the wider public’s awareness of all aspects of design.

Among this year’s nominees with a legitimate hope of winning the German Design Award 2015 is the Boomerang Chair from the Neutra Furniture Collection by VS.

The Boomerang Chair design originates from the Austrian-American architect Richard Neutra (1892-1970) and was devised by him in the 1940s as a piece of casual furniture in different variants for some of his projects in California. The sweeping side sections and straight round rods made of oak are, in combination with the strap covering, a characteristic sign of the era. The sliding back cushion is both elegant and functional, as is the seat cushion with coloured fabric cover placed on top.

The Boomerang Chair is part of the Neutra Furniture Collection by VS relaunched in 2014.
